Peter Morpeth started his junior career in 1967 in the fourths, under the guidance of his father Doug, where he would win his first of 7 premierships as a player in 1968
Peter had a decorated career, along with the fourths premiership he was a member of the 1974, 1977, 1979 and 1981 Senior premiership teams, and then the 1986 and 1988 Reserves premierships.
Peter was awarded the Best & Fairest on 9 occasions – 1968 and 1969 in the Fourths, 1972 in the Thirds, 1983, 84, 85, 86, 88 and 89 in the Reserves. the 1988 season, along with the club B&F and premiership, Peter also won the Mid Murray Football league reserves Best & Fairest.
Peter finished his career in 1993 with 281 Games – 103 Reserves and 178 Senior Games.
In 1994 Peter moved into the tigers junior Football Club when sons Brad and Dean started playing for the tigers. Peter would spend the next 10 years involved as president, coach and team manager of the juniors and would be awarded life membership of the Tigers Junior Football Club.
Peter did his first stint as Club treasurer in 1975 and 1976 at the age of 20 and being involved as Secretary and treasurer during the 1980’s. Peter spent 15-20 years as treasurer of the club and then moved on to take on the Presidents role in 1999, 2000 and 2001.
Peter has assisted in organising and working at all the major fundraisers, Mallee Stump drives, fruit drives, irrigation channel cleaning, delivering the bins in the Swan Hill rural City Council, all to keep the tigers financial and successful.
For over 20 years Peter had the responsibility of mowing the oval, and still takes time to clean the reserve on a Sunday post game – and in recent years Peter has still assisted the club on game days by remaining involved by doing the goal umpiring for the Reserves.
Peter is the only person to have received life membership at both the tigers junior Football Club and the Woorinen Football Club. Peter has been supported through his playing career and administration terms by his Wife Kerry.
