Gary Beasy started his junior career with the north magpies, before joining the Woorinen Football Club in 1976, continuing his career until 1987. He played his entire career in the reserves but sat on the bench for one senior game and ending up with 124 reserves games.
Gary was a member of the 1985 Runner Up reserves team, and then went one better in 1986 captaining the reserves to the premiership.
Gary was the winner of the 1982 reserves Best & Fairest award.
Gary spent many years being the runner, during the 1984-85-86 seasons, Gary played reserves football and then went and did the running for the senior teams. After retirement in 1987 he continued to do the running for both Seniors and reserves until the early 1990’s. Gary was the runner in the 1988 reserves and 1993 under 17 premiership teams.
After retiring from football – Gary then moved into assisting as team manager in many different grades, with his final season being 2014. Gary was heavily involved with the Tigers Junior Football Club administration and coached the under 12.5 team in 1995.
Gary was president from 2002 until 2006, during this time Gary was extremely hands on, taking on many game day roles whilst still running the club. Gary was the president of our last football premiership in 2002.
During his time as president, the Beasy family assisted the club by accommodating many recruits and making them welcome to the Woorinen Football netball Club, this also lead to driving around the countryside to get certain players to game day!
Gary spent many years as head recruiter for the club, landing many great players to the tigers.
Gary was awarded Life Membership in 2005, and has been recognised with the Best Clubman award, Number 1 ticket holder, and his family was awarded the inaugural community day naming rights in 2016.
Gary’s Family is heavily entrenched in the Woorinen history, with his Late Father Geoff, and mother Bev active members of the club, his wife Debbie who was also awarded life membership, both his sons, Todd and Tyler, have played junior and senior football and daughters Jaimee and Hope have represented the club in junior and senior netball.
A fantastic effort, a true tiger- thank you Gary for your contribution to the Woorinen Football Netball Club and congratulations on being inducted into the hall of fame.
